Final Art Project

(Finally) I have gotten access to a computer and have been able to set up my final summer posts! Here is a picture of my final project. It is done in oil pastel, something I was not really familiar working with. I thought it would be a good opportunity to work with oil pastels because I had wanted to try them out, but never really got to.

Mary Cassatt

I think i will be focusing on Mary Cassatt. I love how she focuses on one or two parts of the picture but everything else seems to be somewhat of a blur. It is all very put together and amazing. I will be studying her style on the picture Child With Red Hat. However i will be drawing a picture of my friends instead of a young child wearing a hat.

Art Museum

This summer I was able to go to Washington DC. There I spent quite a bit of time in the Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery of Art. I was blown away by seeing Monet's work up close, for he is my favorite artist. The Portrait Gallery focused much on local, not so much famous artists. Their work was unbelievable. The different styles of the paintings were so varied, yet each painting still was breathtaking. Some focused on detail and precision, while others were more wispy and seemed to be almost random with their color choice. Seeing all of this work only inspired me further to work hard on my art and perfect it.

Jim Meskimen

I love Jim Meskimen's style of charcoal. He is very realistic, but at the same time his work shows a lot of imperfections which I find really attractive. I really like how he draws his faces when the picture is not just a close up of the face.
